Pricing and usage limits were checked against official sources on October 10, 2026.

Free AI-generated audio is not automatically cleared for business use. Check the license before comparing how much each plan includes.

The lowest-cost commercial option: ElevenLabs Starter

ElevenLabs Starter costs $6/month and includes a commercial license. Murf Creator costs $19/month, while Descript Hobbyist lists $16/month or $24/month per person.

Murf Free does not grant commercial rights. The ElevenLabs Free plan does not list a commercial license.

So if your first filter is the lowest listed price for a plan with commercial rights, start with ElevenLabs Starter.

Pricing and allowances: keep the units separate

The three services count usage in credits, voice-generation time, or media hours. Those units cannot be lined up as a single monthly-minute allowance.

ElevenLabs Free is $0/month with 10,000 credits/month. Starter is $6/month with 30,000 credits/month. Creator is $11/month for its first month at 50% off the usual $22/month, with 121,000 credits/month.

Murf Free is $0/month with 10 minutes of voice generation. Creator is $19/month or $228/year with 24 hours of generation per year. Business is $66/month or $792/year with 96 hours per year.

Descript Free is $0/month with 60 minutes of media time and a one-time 100 AI credits. Hobbyist lists $16/month and $24/month per person; Creator lists $24/month and $35/month per person.

Here is the catch: Murf Creator’s 24 hours are for the year, not each month. There is no stated conversion between ElevenLabs credits and Descript media hours either.

If you already know how much you need to produce, compare each plan using its own stated unit.

The chart shows how each service counts usage.

Commercial rights: do not deliver work made under a free plan without checking

Murf Free includes 10 minutes of generation and 10 projects, but no commercial rights. Creator includes those rights.

ElevenLabs Starter includes a Commercial License. Its Free plan does not list that license.

Descript Free is a no-cost plan, and Hobbyist supports watermark-free 1080p exports. Check the terms for the plan you intend to buy before using its output in paid work.

If you plan to use the audio for work, check the license terms before delivery rather than assuming the free allowance covers it.

Which tool fits the task?

ElevenLabs and Murf list voice-generation allowances. Descript also supports editing recorded audio and video with text.

Descript lists transcription in 25 languages and translation and dubbing into 30+ languages on its Business plan. Murf lists 200+ voices and 30+ languages and accents. ElevenLabs includes Instant Voice Cloning in Starter and Professional Voice Cloning in Creator.

Here is the catch: credits and hours alone do not tell you how the finished voice will sound. This comparison did not test the services with the same script.

Use the chart to choose which service to investigate first based on your task.
